Jessica Rooth, Munster
Raves: An early-season injury limited the Mustangs’ No. 1 singles player to start the season, but the upperclassman overcame the setback to help lead her club to a regional title. Rooth is second-team all-state.
Raves: In what was by all means a rebuilding year for Highland, this versatile player helped the transition by having a very solid senior season. Madrigal is second-team all-state.
Meg Modesto, Chesterton
Raves: In keeping with family tradition, this Modesto was a solid fixture at the top of the Trojans’ lineup. She helped the club win the Duneland Conference title, stopping Valparaiso’s win streak in the process. Modesto is also a second-team all-state member.
Paige Heuer and
Nikki Heiniger, Munster
Raves: The two natural singles players were paired up weeks into the schedule, but went on a winning spree that included finishing third at the individual state tournament. This pair of Mustangs are on the first-team all-state list.
Aby Madrigal and Holly Santaguida, Highland
Raves: Another season in the books and another solid showing for an Aby Madrigal doubles team. Though this campaign didn’t include an individual doubles state title, the duo’s strong efforts did help during the squad’s rebuilding process. This tandem is also first-team all-state.
Kelly Kennedy, Valparaiso; Margaret Shinn, Chesterton; Abby Kvachkoff, Crown Point; Rachel Willing, Valparaiso; Jessica Lee, Chesterton; Melissa Tepperman, Munster; Grace Cooper, Andrean; Kasey Kulesa, Munster; Caroline Boger, LaPorte
Raves: The upperclassman has been a staple in not only making the Bulldogs one of the toughest teams in the area, but also helping them to maintain the streak of 19 consecutive sectional crowns. She is second-team all-state.
Raves: For multiple seasons, Kennedy has been a significant piece of the Vikings’ successes in the Duneland Conference and Northwest Indiana. Though she also missed some matches this season, the upperclassman finished on the all-district team and her team took home a sectional title.
Raves: The exchange student’s experience was a great benefit to the sectional champion Wolves this spring. Not only was she a force in the region, but her strides earned a spot on the second-team all-state list.
Brooke Sever and Madisen Kammerer, Valparaiso
Raves: The Vikings’ No. 1 tandem was a nice complement to the successes from the singles rotation. Their efforts, including all-district honors, helped the Vikings bounce back against Chesterton to take a sectional title.
Kate Spencer and Rachel Crookston, Valparaiso
Raves: The Vikings’ No. 2 duo completed a strong 1-2 doubles punch for the Vikings. As the pair posted a 17-2 showing, it remained a clutch point, especially in the semifinal round of the LaPorte Regional. Spencer and Crookston are also all-district.
