FIRST TEAM

3,200 relay — Chesterton

(Rosie Biehl, Kristen Homme, Kassidy Scott, Leah Sink)

By the numbers: Finished 11th at the state meet — the best of any area team. Edged Portage to win regional title.

100 HURDLES — Kassidy Swenson, Valparaiso

By the numbers: Finished 12th at state (15.28) after taking first place at regional (15.08).

100 — Airrica Harper, Merrillville

By the numbers: Earned a medal with her seventh-place finish at state (12.40) after winning the 100 and 200 at regional.

1,600 — Taylor Austin, Griffith

By the numbers: Medaled at state with her ninth-place finish (5:01.56) despite a bad case of plantar fasciitis in both feet.

400 RELAY — Merrillville

(Briana Williams, Airrica Harper, Stephanie Samuels, Anjelica Peppers)

By the numbers: Edged a strong Kankakee Valley quartet to capture regional title.

400 — Megan Zajac, Lake Central

By the numbers: Despite placing 13th at state, the sophomore ran a 57.86 this season — narrowly placing second to Michigan City’s Jasmine McLemore (57.85) at regional.

300 HURDLES — Keyera Lige, Bowman Academy

By the numbers: The Eagles standout placed 11th at state (45.03) just ahead of Lowell’s Tori Nida (45.08). She also beat Swenson and Nida to win regional.

800 — Kayla McGurk, Crown Point

By the numbers: Placed 13th at state — best of any area runner — after being edged out at regional by Wheeler’s Kelly O’Shea.

200 — Airrica Harper, Merrillville

By the numbers: Her time of 25.72 at state placed her 11th overall. She also won regional titles in the 100 (12.51) and 200 (25.92).

3,200 — Elena Lancioni, LaPorte

By the numbers: Ended up 10th at state (11:02.34) to top all area runners. Won regional crowns in the 1,600 (5:10.47) and 3,200 (11:17.15).

1,600 RELAY — Chesterton

(Ana Acevedo, Desiree Bell, Kaylee Lindahl, Jordyn Kincy)

By the numbers: After finishing a close second to LC, which won regional, the Trojans placed 13th at state — best of any area team.

HIGH JUMP — Alivia Ash, Merrillville

By the numbers: The fabulous freshman went 5-4 to finish 11th at state. She also captured the regional title, edging out Noll’s Asya Hobbs and Kouts’ Allison Zimmerle.

LONG JUMP — Kaitlyn Moricz, Lake Central

By the numbers: Went 19-00.25 early this season — best in the area by far. Won regional title by eight inches over Portage’s Jade McKnight, before experiencing misfortune at state and ending up 13th.

SHOT PUT — Tara Kostelnik, Portage

By the numbers: The junior led the area all season (39-08.75) and won the regional title (41-3.50) by edging out Westville’s Savanna Jackson. She placed 15th at state (38-11.50).

DISCUS — Chelsie Meeks, Rensselaer

By the numbers: Finished as state runner-up for the second straight year after going 144-8. Also won conference, sectional and regional titles and threw a personal-best 154-6.

POLE VAULT — Kaitlyn Moricz, Lake Central

By the numbers: Placed fourth at state with a personal-best of 12 feet. The Vincennes-bound star was second to teammate Brooke Lambert (12-3) and ahead of teammate Katie Brown at regional.

Second TEAM

3,200 RELAY — Hobart

(Celena Guerrero, Cailin Trezak, Kimberly Bigbie, Mindy Whidden).

By the numbers: The Brickies went 9:36.79 to finish 15th at state. The team finished third at regional behind Chesterton and Portage.

100 HURDLES — Keyera Lige, Bowman Academy

By the numbers: Ended up 14th at state (15.43) after placing third at regional behind Valpo’s Swenson and LC’s Parriss Bettis.

100 — Arrielle Borders, Lew Wallace

By the numbers: The senior placed third in the 100 and 200 races at regional, before ending up 11th overall at state in the 100 (12.41).

1,600 — Elena Lancioni, LaPorte

By the numbers: Finished 11th (5:03.52) at state — best in the area behind Griffith’s Taylor Austin. She beat Austin to win the regional crown and also won sectional and conference titles.

400 RELAY — West Side

(Ivorie Stalling, Kayla Brister, Ashley Stewart, Tyeisha Hunter).

By the numbers: The Cougars’ quartet finished 13th at state (49.34) after ending up third at regional following a photo-finish loss to KV.

400 — Jasmine McLemore, Michigan City

By the numbers: Placed 15th at state (59.53), second only to LC’s Megan Zajac, who was 13th. The Wolves standout won regional by beating Zajac.

300 HURDLES — Tori Nida, Lowell

By the numbers: The versatile senior, who set school and sectional records, placed third at the regional, then 12th at state.

800 — Kelly O’Shea, Wheeler

By the numbers: The junior placed 17th at state (2:18.59), which was second-best in the area to CP’s McGurk.

200 — Arrielle Borders, Lew Wallace

By the numbers: The Hornets standout finished 15th at state — four spots behind Merrillville standout and best friend, Airrica Harper. She took third in the 100 and 200 at regional.

3,200 — Kailee Schoof, LaPorte

By the numbers: The sensational freshman placed 21st at state after placing second to Lancioni and ahead of Griffith’s Austin at regional.

1,600 RELAY — Crown Point

(Jorie Horn, Mikayla Marcinkowski, Kayla McGurk, Bailey Beckham)

By the numbers: This pack of Bulldogs went 4:00.89 and finished 15th at state — behind 13th-place Chesterton.

HIGH JUMP — Aysa Hobbs, Bishop Noll

By the numbers: Placed 15th at state, going 5-3, which was the second-best effort of any area jumper. The junior was also second at regional behind Merrillville’s Ash.

LONG JUMP — Jade McKnight, Portage

By the numbers: The senior went 18-1.50 to place sixth at state. She placed second to LC’s Moricz at regional and just ahead of KV freshman Jenna Jungels.

SHOT PUT — Savanna Jackson, Westville

By the numbers: Jackson, who placed second to Portage’s Kostelnik at the regional, finished 21st at state (37-11.25).

DISCUS — Kayla York, Hanover Central

By the numbers: The talented sophomore earned a medal with her ninth-place finish (129-10) after placing second to Portage’s Ashley Sosbe at regional.

POLE VAULT — Katie Brown, Lake Central

By the numbers: Went 11-6 at state to place sixth at state. She also went 11-6 at regional and ended up third behind teammates Moricz, who was second, and Brooke Lambert, who won with a meet record of 12-3.
