Timeout Boys Basketball: Post-Tribune Top 10

boys basketball
P-T top 10

1. Bowman

The Eagles finish against Kokomo. They beat East Chicago soundly this week. Clearly the best regular-season team in the area this year.

2. Lake Central

The Indians ran the table on the DAC schedule — no easy feat. They’re probably as good as Bowman, though, a loss at home to Bowman made the difference.

3. Munster

The Mustangs roll into sectionals in a good position. They have to get past Morton and Lowell to get to the final. It seems likely.

4. Bishop Noll

The Warriors are as good as any area team — that includes Bowman and Lake Central. They lost a double-digit lead to EC on the road but beat Michigan City.

5. East Chicago

It was a good news, bad news week for EC. The Cardinals beat Noll at home but lost to Bowman on the road.

6. Griffith

The Panthers get a tough opening draw against Hammond in the Clark Sectional The Wildcats beat them in regular season.

7. Kouts

The Mustangs won by 25, lost by 30 and won by 17 all in the course of a week. Still a pretty good Class 1A team.

8. Marquette

The Blazers are blazing into postseason play. They have won five straight. They finish with 4A Elkhart Memorial.

9. Valparaiso

The Vikings played poorly against Chesterton last week, shooting 21 percent from the field. They get the Trojans again at home in sectionals.

10. Hammond

The Wildcats make their first appearance in the Top 10. They lost a tough one to Andrean. They get Griffith in the first round of sectionals after finishing the season against West Side.

Player of the Week

Justin King, Bowman

King scored 26 points for Bowman in an 86-71 victory over East Chicago.
