Bowling roundup: Valentine’s tourneys at local centers

Two local centers are holding Valentine’s Day-themed tournaments this month.

Stardust Bowl III in Dyer will hold its eighth annual February Singles w/Doubles event starting Friday with squads on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through Feb. 19. Singles will pay $1,000 for first while doubles pays $500. The event is also open to youth bowlers with winnings going to the United States Bowling Congress SMART fund in scholarship form.

The entry fee is $28 if reservation is made ahead of time, $35 for walk-ins and $20 for re-entry. There is also an optional scratch division for $5. For more details, call Shaun at 322-3666.

Olympia Lanes will be hosting its inaugural Valentine Female/Child Tournament at 6:30 p.m., on Sunday, Feb. 12. Children ages 3-and-up can bowl with an adult female at a cost of just $9 per bowler. A given female can enter with multiple youth bowlers. For more details, call 933-6677.

Lakeshore Association tourney: The Lakeshore USBC Association Tournament is ongoing at Hobart Lanes and Stardust II.

Team event squads remaining are at 8:30 a.m. and noon on Saturday and Feb. 12 at Hobart Lanes, while singles and doubles squads are at 1 p.m. on Sunday and Feb. 11 at Stardust II. For more details, call tourney director Jerry Grochowski at 916-4896.
