The Indiana State Bowling Association Masters and Queens was held over the weekend with Ryan McCoy reaching the finals before losing to Alex Weaver. McCoy defeated his Calumet College teammate Mitchel Katic and two-time Post-Tribune Tournament champion Matt Staninger on his way to the final.
Other local finalists were Boone Grove graduate Jimmy Kraushaar (11th) and Olympia Lanes bowler Ari Wilson (16th).
For the girls, Boone Grove senior-to-be Paige Kraushaar qualified fifth, won her first stepladder match before losing to Jessica Neu. Lake Central’s Caroline Dienes finished 11th.
GCABA golf outing: The Greater Calumet Area Bowling Association will hold its sixth annual golf outing on July 7 at Wicker Park in Highland. It’s a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m., with a cost of $80 per golfer, which includes greens fees, cart, food, beverages and prizes.
Organizers are also looking for hole sponsors. Proceeds from the event go toward the association’s scholarship fund. For details, call Joe Puchek at 789-1755 or Ed Wleklinski at 810-7398.
