For the aspiring young athlete looking to learn about team sports, or the parents wanting to prevent their child from becoming a couch potato, Munster Parks and Recreation will offer a crash course on athletics.

This fall’s Introduction to Sports is geared toward kids ages 3 to 6 and will focus on basketball, baseball, football and soccer. Hour-long classes start each Saturday at 10:15 a.m. from Nov. 10 to Dec. 8 and will be held at Elliot Elementary School (8718 White Oak Ave., Munster).

Students are asked to bring their kid-sized gear including a basketball on Week 1 and a baseball glove for Week 2. Medals and certificates will be awarded at the completion of the course. There is a $30 fee for Munster residents, and a $40 fee for non-residents.
