The Professional Disc Golf Association announced it is bringing the best disc golfers back to Northwest Indiana for the 2013 PDGA World Championships hosted at Lemon Lake County Park in Crown Point from Aug. 5 to Aug. 10.
An estimated 340 competitors from as many as 10 nations are expected to converge on the region park for a reprise of the 2010 event, according to tournament director and PDGA hall of famer Brian Cummings.
“We realize the success of hosting visitors to Northwest Indiana from around the world depends on the support of the community,” Cummings said about residents showing their hospitality. “It is important that as many people as possible are aware of the event.”
PDGA executive director Brian Graham also believes that the Crown Point area will repeat as a successful host.
Hosting partners include the Lake County Parks, Red Roc Disc Golf Club, South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority and South Shore Sports Promotions. Businesses or individuals who wish to sponsor the event or arrange a presentation may call Cummings at 712-6210.
