Kent’s Run 5K set for Saturday in Valpo

In its sixth year, the Kent’s Run 5K will kick off on Saturday in Valparaiso to honor the legacy of an adventurous boy and continue to raise funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

The race is set to start at 8 a.m. at Boone Grove Middle School (325 W. 550 S., Valparaiso).

Kent’s Run 5K was established in memory of Kent Ribordy, a 16-year-old who died of Leukemia on June 17, 2007.

In five years, Kent’s Run has raised more than $150,000 to help fight blood and related cancers.

Interested runners can register for the event online through Thursday for $30. The fee will be $35 for race-day registrants who may sign up at the packet pick-up.

Elite Gymnastics to offer multi-day camp: Indiana Elite Gymnastics will offer children ages 4 and older a chance to train during a multi-day summer fun camp at the Wheeler studio.

The camp will be held daily from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. from June 18 to 21. Campers will focus on gymnastics theme days, as well as crafts and other activities. Lunch and snacks will be provided.

Coaches will help participants work toward the individual camper’s goals at the 12,000 sq. ft., state-of-the-art gym (679 W. SR 130). The fee is $88.

IEG will also offer three back handspring clinics this summer. They will occur from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 22, July 13, and Aug. 10. The cost for the sessions will be $30.

Registration available for LOFS soccer: Lakes of the Four Seasons soccer has opened up online registration and has set sign-up dates for the fall 2013 season.

The soccer club offers playing opportunities for children and teens ages 4 to 14. The league includes co-ed divisions U6, U8, and U11. The travel league includes both boys and girls divisions of U8, U10, U12, and U14.

LOFS offers interested players two ways to sign up. First, online registration continues through June 16. Visit seasonssoccerclub.org, and click on registration. Visitors will be prompted for all necessary information.

In-person registration will be held at the Lakes of the Four Seasons’ soccer fields. These sign-ups will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon on May 25 and June 1.

Highland golf outing: The Highland High School athletic department will host its second annual golf outing on July 8.

With a shotgun start at noon at Sherwood Golf Course in Schererville, the outing will include, golf, lunch and dinner.

Fees are $100 per person or $400 per foursome. Registration and payment are due on June 26.
