The Post-Tribune has one more Fantasy NASCAR contest for you next week with the Brickyard 400. Pick five drivers and points are based on the same system NASCAR uses in its standings. Lineup entries can be submitted via email (email@example.com) or phone (219-314-3797). Entries can also be texted to that cell number. No faxes, please. With your entries, please include your name, hometown and a contact number. First place will receive four tickets to a RailCats baseball game in August.

They say all good things must come to an end. Well, in the case of the Post-Tribune’s sixth annual Fantasy NASCAR contest, that time is now.
At least it’s done when it comes to the schedule leading up to our grand prize — two tickets to next week’s Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
And it wasn’t exactly a perfect ending with last Sunday’s Sprint Cup Series race in New Hampshire.
When the top five consists of a winner that hasn’t won in 75 races (Brian Vickers), a third-place finisher that hasn’t finished that high in almost two years (Jeff Burton) and a driver in fifth who only has two other top-5 finishes in his career (Aric Almirola), then you know scoring will be at a premium.
It was almost like a restrictor plate race a week after there was a restrictor plate race.
In the end, only two readers topped the 190-point mark and only one reader had Vickers in his five picks. That was Sam Conley of Cedar Lake, but he wasn’t first or second.
The best effort of the week was by Shannon Zart of DeMotte. She had runner-up Kyle Busch, fourth-place Brad Keselowski, Jimmie Johnson (sixth), Carl Edwards (eighth) and Matt Kenseth (ninth) for 194 points. Finishing second was Tom Miles of Valparaiso with 192 points. The only difference between their lineups was Miles picking Jeff Gordon (10th) instead of Edwards.
Both Zart and Miles earned spots in our season-ending drawing, but neither had their name picked out of the official Fantasy NASCAR hat — actually, we used a really big coffee cup.
The winner was longtime Post-Tribune Fantasy NASCAR entrant Nathanial Hollowell of Gary, who has been getting in our contest since its inception. He finished first twice this year, and now he wins two tickets to the Brickyard 400.
Even though it’s the middle of summer, we feel like celebrating like it’s Christmas in July in which it’s better to give than to receive.
So we have a second-place prize, too. So the second name out of the really big cup was Bob Tolley of Whiting, who was entering our contest for the first time this year. He only won once — second week at Phoenix — but that was enough to win four tickets to a RailCats baseball game in August.
