Two young Valparaiso residents and First Tee members have qualified to advance to regional and national golf competitions.
First Tee of Valparaiso announced that Michael Gallinatti will be playing in the First Tee Pebble Beach Open that will air on the Golf Channel on Sept. 27 to 29.
Gallinatti, who is a member of the Valparaiso High School boys golf team, was chosen from hundreds of applicants from throughout the country. A longtime First Tee golfer, he was selected not only for his ability on the greens, but for his essay writing and interviewing skills.
First Tee and LPGA-USGA girls golf member Wynne Aldrich won her age group at the Masters Drive, Chip and Putt competition on July 20 at Randall Oaks Country Club in West Dundee, Ill. She is headed to the regional championship in Oakbrook, Ill., on Aug. 10.
If Aldrich wins the regional, she will get to compete at the Masters next spring in Georgia.
