Crown Point Pups junior basketball team ends season with perfect mark

A group of Crown Point youngsters recently wrapped up a perfect basketball season.
In the Crown Point Pups Basketball junior division, which is made up of 4th- and 5th-graders, the Nason’s Appliances squad put together a 16-0 season. Their successful campaign culminated in winning both the regular season title, as well as the tournament championship on Sunday.
Players included: Andrew Daley, C.J. Hardy, Bradley White, Alex Longoria, Bret Mayersky, Ryan Myers, Harry Smith, Orion White and Cooper Withrow.
The Nason’s team is coached by Rick Mayersky and Jeff White.
East to conduct basketball lessons: Hour-long, one-on-one basketball lessons for youths in grades 3 to 12 are being scheduled by former Merrillville boys basketball coach and 2008 Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame inductee Jim East.
East will be offering private instruction set around the busy schedules of athlete-scholars.
The lessons will take place at the Fieldhouse-Merrillville (899 East 99th Court, Merrillville.) For registration, contact 662-8157 or 308-5504.
Fieldhouse-Merrillville to hold adult spring basketball league: Coming to the Fieldhouse-Merrillville is an adult spring basketball league. The program featuring games scheduled for Sundays, begins on Sunday and runs through June 1.
Cost is $495 per team or $125 for individual registration. The price includes payments for referee services.
Registration for the adult spring league ends Thursday.
Merrillville Madness coming to Fieldhouse-Merrillville: The Fieldhouse-Merrillville will roll out its Merrillville Madness in March starting later this month.
Boys in grades 3 to 6 will start on Monday; boys from grades 7 to 12 begin on March 19. Girls will kick off the league on March 20. All divisions will run for three weeks with a guarantee of at least four games per team, followed by a single-elimination tournament.
Registration for the Madness continues with entry fees of $250 per team.
