If point guard Kirk Hinrich’s strained right hip keeps getting better, then he expects to play against the Suns on Wednesday in Phoenix, where the Bulls start their five-game road trip.
Hinrich was a limited participant in practice Tuesday at the Berto Center. He shot free throws during individual drills at the end of the session.
Coach Tom Thibodeau and Hinrich will evaluate his status after the shootaround Wednesday morning in Phoenix.
‘‘[It comes down to] how well I can move and between now and [Wednesday],’’ Hinrich said. ‘‘Just have to get as much treatment as I can. At some point, I’m going to have to really push it to see how I feel.’’
The Bulls’ 101-95 home loss Monday to the Boston Celtics left Thibodeau in one of his worst moods of the season. But he was more positive Tuesday, knowing his team was about to leave on a 10-day road trip.
‘‘It’s a good time to go on the road,’’ Thibodeau said. ‘‘The focus: concentrating on what we need to improve upon and just getting ready for Phoenix.’’
Hinrich echoed that sentiment.
‘‘We’re all excited to get out on the road,’’ he said. ‘‘It’s a chance for just us to be on the road, where we’re all we’ve got. You don’t have the fans or anything like that behind us.’’
The Bulls knew their play Monday was not up to standard. But getting the chance to watch the game film helped them to gain perspective.
‘‘Everybody can see what’s going on out there,’’ Hinrich said. ‘‘It’s always good . . . to sleep on it, come in and watch the film with a fresh point of view.’’
