The Bears wrapped up what coach Marc Trestman called “just a heck of an offseason” on Thursday, the final day of a mandatory minicamp at Halas Hall. Most importantly, the Bears are virtually unscathed.

“We came out of it pretty much injury-free,” Trestman said. “Couple of nicks, but nothing where guys won’t be available for the start of training camp. So I think we got a lot done, and looking back, a lot of things came together.”

The Bears’ receiving corps dealt with the most injuries. Alshon Jeffery and Marquess Wilson were sidelined by hamstring injuries. Brandon Marshall, although cleared to participate, was limited coming off hip surgery in January.

“There was no plan [with Marshall],” Trestman said. “We just kind of took it as it came, and we left it up to Brandon to assess his body and where he is. He’ll be back ready to go next month.”

A special guest

Former Oakland Raiders quarterback Rich Gannon, the 2002 NFL most valuable player, watched practice and visited with the Bears’ quarterbacks.

“The big thing that I would encourage the quarterbacks is just get to know Marc on a personal level, on a professional level,” Gannon said. “The trust factor is absolutely vital. All the good offenses that you’re around and good quarterbacks in the league, they’ve got that great relationship with the play-caller.”

The rundown

Trestman excused defensive tackle Stephen Paea and safety Tom Zbikowski from practice for personal reasons.

◆ The Bears waived undrafted rookie cornerback Maurice Jones and are expected to sign rookie offensive lineman A.J. Lindeman, a Toledo and Waubonsie Valley product. He was at minicamp on a tryout basis.
